It forms part of the "play loud! (live) music series". The “play loud (live) music series“ is based on three precepts: Alan Lomax´s work as an archivist and chronicler, John Peel´s BBC radio sessions, and the work of Direct Cinema pioneers, such as the Maysles Brothers, Leacock, Wildenhahn, Blank and Pennebacker. play loud! aims to create an extensive archive of interesting popular music and culture that includes both material from the filmmakers' large amount of unreleased footage and material from other sources. Other artists in this series: Damo Suzuki, Lydia Lunch, Floating di Morel, Hans-Joachim Irmler, FM Einheit, Faust, Die Regierung, Limpe Fuchs, Guru Guru, Friedman + Liebezeit, Camera feat Michael Rother & Dieter Moebius, and many more.
Rockpalast (Rock Palace) is a German music television show that broadcasts live on German television station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). Rockpalast started in 1974 and continues to this day. Hundreds of rock, heavy metal and jazz bands have performed on Rockpalast. For this vinyl and DVD release play loud! has licensed the Alan Vega show from 1982.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Lyon (macLYON) writes about Alan Vega's art:
Alan Vega, famous for being one of the minimalist electronic rock pioneers, founded with Martin Rev the mythical band Suicide in the early 70s. But Alan Vega is above all a visual artist, playing an active part in the New York artistic scene from the end of the 60s. With other artists, he created in 1968 the Project of Living Artists. Located in a Manhattan loft, it is one of the first alternative places hold by artists and opened 24 hours a day. Dedicated to all kind of art, from music to cinema, the gallery became a springboard for many artists, like the bands New York Dolls, Television or Blondie. In this saturated middle, Alan Vega found an ideal climate for his artwork and combined simultaneously his musical and artistic careers. First focused on painting, his work has evolved with the integration of light. The “light sculptures” (assemblies of various objects, mostly light bulbs, lamps, neons of all colours and shapes) were born.
The visual artist, musician, and poet Alan Vega co-founded the massively influential avant-garde band Suicide with Martin
Rev in 1970, with whom he performed off and on throughout his life. Suicide’s debut album was included among Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and it was a formative work in the invention of synth-punk, post-punk, art rock, industrial, and more....more

Mary Halvorson is a genius composer and guitarist who has developed her own musical language, and with Code Girl she has incorporated poetry into that language. Incredible compositions and lyricism (each track is a different kind of poem). Halvorson's playing is as great as usual, and all the other members of the band sound great. Robert Wyatt's singing in particular works extremely well in the tracks he's featured. Highly, highly recommend. rat
